On June 24, 2023, the National Assembly passed the Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Entry and Exit of Vietnamese citizens and the Law on entry, exit, transit and residence of foreigners in Vietnam 2023 and take effect from August 15, 2023.
In particular, there are amendments to regulations on the duration of some types of visas as follows:
- The SQ symbol visa is valid for no more than 30 days.
- Visas marked HN, DL, EV are valid for no more than 90 days.
- VR symbol visa is valid for no more than 180 days.
- Visa symbols NG1, NG2, NG3, NG4, LV1, LV2, DT4, DN1, DN2, NN1, NN2, NN3, DH, PV1, PV2, TT valid for not more than 01 year.
Thus, from August 15, 2023, the duration of e-visa (or e-visa) has been raised from no more than 30 days to 90 days and is valid 01 time or more times than the current Law on entry, exit, transit and residence of foreigners in Vietnam 2014.
In addition, this amended Law also stipulates the issuance of e-visas to be applied on the basis of ensuring national defense, security, social order and safety, in accordance with Vietnam's foreign policy and socio-economic development.
In particular, the Government shall decide on the list of countries and territories whose citizens are granted e-visas; List of international border gates that allow foreigners to enter and exit with e-visas.
